Dr. Hoo Chiew PingDR. HOO CHIEW-PING 

Brief Profile

Hoo Chiew-Ping is a lecturer in the Strategic Studies and International Relations Program at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She has recently completed her PhD dissertation on the impact of US-ROK statecraft on North Korean provocative behaviour. In 2010, she was a Korea Foundation Field Research Fellow at Seoul National University. In the following year, she obtained Academy of Korean Studies’ research fellowship to continue data collection. She conducts lectures on strategic studies, Asian security, policy analysis, case studies method, and foreign policy making of the great and middle powers. Teaching

I teach introductory international relations courses at the undergraduate level, and a variety of topics at the postgraduate level including strategic studies, Asian security, policy analysis, and foreign policy making of the great and middle powers. I am also delivering guest lectures on Korean security issues and North Korea’s nuclear problem for the Malaysian Armed Forces Defense College (MPAT) and National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) respectively. Beginning in January 2016 I am an Adjunct Lecturer at MPAT, Ministry of Defense, Malaysia; and for Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2015-2016 Spring Semester.
